I would like to introduce a new feature to Tricky-Dicks.com, my weekly blog.

Each Friday I will sit down and let you know what's going on this week with The Tricky Dicks. I will keep you posted on upcoming shows, new songs we have learned, what's happening with the recording of our album, who's not talking to who, and so on. In the coming weeks, D Denizen and Todd will be adding their thoughts to the fray as their blogs debut.

This week's practice was a wash, literally. My dad called me up the day before practice with an extra ticket to the Detroit Red Wings hockey game which would have conflicted with practice, so I called the guys to reschedule. Mother nature, however, had other plans for me.

This week we had unseasonably warm weather in the Detroit area. The total snowfall so far this season for our area is way above the average and is poised to put us in the top ten for snowiest winters in Michigan history. We've had a constant 1-3 foot blanket of snow on the ground since Christmas, and the unseasonably warm weather earlier this week caused it all to melt in the course of about two days. The third day it rained like hell before a cold front blew through late in the evening that returned temps back to normal. The day of rain, combined with the snowmelt and still mostly frozen ground led to all sorts of flood issues in the area...including in my basement, ground zero for all things Dicks.

I've always had water problems in my basement but they traditionally have been minor, but this was like no leak I'd ever experienced. Fortunately, I was able to get all of our gear to higher ground before the water was able to cause problems, but the end result was that I had to stay home Thursday night with a wet-dry vac, a mop, and a whole house fan instead of being at the Red Wings game, which is what I skipped band practice for in the first place.

Sigh...I guess that will teach me to skip band practice. See if I try that one again.

Until next week,

J.D.
